Three-day training of trainers (ToT) on “Techniques for drafting judgments and decisions”, “Current issues of the cross-examination (confrontation)” and “Interviewing techniques and communications management” was organised in co-operation with the Justice Academy on 25-27 September in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia.
The first training course aimed at teaching the judges how to draft clear, comprehensible and precise judicial acts as an important condition of the access to justice. The second course was focused on the issues of the right to confrontation, providing practical knowledge and tools to ensure the implementation of this right in light of the principles and criteria under Article 6 of ECHR. The third course was designed to develop the knowledge and skills of judges required for effective communication with parties of proceedings, so that the essence and meaning of the procedural actions could be more conceivable and understandable, thus contributing to the enhancement of public trust in courts.
During the ToT the trainers were also equipped with tools and techniques essential for the delivery of high-quality trainings in human rights topics. They became familiar with the training cycle management process and improved their presentation skills. The training provided a perfect opportunity to acquire new methodology skills and exchange experience with international and local consultants.
18 trainers attended these sessions, which are part of a series of trainings aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Justice Academy to deliver human rights courses. The event was organised within the framework of the Project “Supporting the criminal justice reform and harmonizing the application of the European standards in Armenia”, funded within the European Union and Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance.
