Presenting European standards on national minorities in Armenia

A joint working discussion on the draft law on national minorities, brought together representatives from respective institutions, as well as representatives from various national minorities. This meeting was organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia and the National Assembly Commission on Human Rights Protection and Public Relations of Armenia.

In June 2024, the Council of Europe's Venice Commission, in co-operation with the Council of Europe Directorate General of Democracy and Human Dignity, issued an opinion to the draft law, adopted by the Venice Commission at its 139th Plenary session on 21-22 June 2024. This opinion was prepared at the request of the Armenian authorities. The Opinion and its Recommendations were presented to the audience at the working discussion.

This event is part of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme Partnership for Good Governance”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in the framework of the project “Promoting equality and non-discrimination in Armenia”.
