On 11 June 2021 the online discussion of the Opinion of the methodology and the procedure for the performance evaluation of Court of Cassation/Supreme Court judges in Armenia took place in the framework of the project "Support to the judicial reform – enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia," funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
One of the Project components is focused on the assessment of legislation related to the justice system of Armenia and the provision of recommendations as to strengthening the independence, impartiality and efficiency of the judiciary in Armenia, in line with the Council of Europe standards.
The online discussion was held by the Council of Europe international consultant Ms. Nina Betetto who conducted the analysis related to the methodology and the procedure for the performance evaluation of Court of Cassation and/or Supreme Court judges. The aim of the discussion was to present the peculiarities of the performance evaluation of the judges of the Court of Cassation and/or Supreme Court judges and the provision of further recommendations as to possible improvement in the light of the Council of Europe standards and best practices of the Council of Europe member states.
The online discussion was attended by the representatives of the Delegation of the European Union, Ministry of Justice, Supreme Judicial Council, Court of Cassation and Commission for Performance Evaluation of Judges of the General Assembly of Judges.
This event was organised in the framework of the project "Support to the judicial reform – enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia," funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe in their Partnership for Good Governance II (2019-2022).
