Moldovan stakeholders involved in the meetings of the CEPEJ working group on judicial time management

On 9 and 10 November 2020 the representatives of the partner institutions from Moldova – the Agency for Court Administration and the National Union of Enforcement Agents – attended the online 28th meeting of the Working group on judicial time management (CEPEJ-SATURN). The  working group has the objective to collect specific information and develop detailed knowledge of judicial timeframes in the Council of Europe member States in order to enable them to implement policies to prevent violations of the right to a fair trial within a reasonable time as protected by Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The current meeting has aimed to present and discuss the key tools applied in the functioning of the courts, in particular with regard to better analyse the various judicial timeframes and the specific guidelines for court staff, bailiffs and lawyers. Other discussions tackled on how to develop court dashboards and the case weighting in judicial systems. On this occasion, the Moldovan representatives had the opportunity to learn more from the CEPEJ experts’ recommendations and the experience of other member States on how to assess and display the data on courts’ performance or how to develop mechanisms to evaluate the complexity of cases, considering the differences of the cases in terms of required judicial time and efforts.

The above action is implemented within the framework of the project “Support to further strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova”, as part of the Partnership for Good Governance II program, and is financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the latter.
