Moldovan police officers exchange with Spanish counterparts on ways to improve work with victims of hate crime

Representatives of the General Police Inspectorate of Moldova participated in a study visit to the Police of Madrid and Fuenlabrada, in Spain, with the aim to discuss about the community police practices, the diversity aspects in policing and the fight against hate crime. The visit took place on 13-15 December.

This activity enabled police officers from Moldova to learn more from the practice of the Police in Spain on investigating hate crimes, discover the experience on community policing, but also to exchange knowledge and ideas on improving the work with victims of hate crime. The lessons learned through these exchanges will improve the daily work of police officers in Moldova to support equality and non-discrimination.

Exchanges with peers included the Local Police Service of Fuenlabrada, Diversity Management Unit of the Police of Madrid, Judicial Police service in Madrid and the Merced Migrations Foundation.

This activity was organised in the framework of the regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate speech and hate crime in the Eastern Partnership,” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance II.
