EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance Programme supports the Lawyers’ Training Centre of the Moldovan Bar Association in providing capacity building for lawyers and trainee lawyers on non-discrimination, in line with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and EU legislation.
A total number of 21 lawyers and trainee lawyers received the opportunity to consolidate their theoretical knowledge and practice on the topic. The online training course on the interdiction of discrimination and the ECHR case-law was delivered on the 30th of October by the Council of Europe consultant Ivana Roagna (Italy).
The participants benefited from a highly practical training course aimed at achieving a better understanding of the different forms of discrimination, grounds and criteria for discrimination and the relevance of the intention to discriminate. Also, they learned about comparators, reasonable and objective justification, remedies and standards in cases of discrimination.
This activity was organised as part of the assistance provided to the Lawyers’ Training Centre of the Moldovan Bar Association, partner institution of the national project “Strengthening the capacities of the justice sector actors to deliver justice in line with European standards, in particular to fight discrimination in the Republic of Moldova”, implemented in the frame of the joint EU/CoE Programme “Partnership for Good Governance II”.
