Inclusive Education Ambassadors – first meeting in Strasbourg

Twelve selected “Inclusive Education Ambassadors” from Albania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, the Slovak Republic, and the United Kingdom meet for the first time on 28-29 March 2023 in Strasbourg to discuss promoting quality inclusive education for Roma and Travellers in their respective countries in the months to come.

Roma and non-Roma human rights activists, former students of segregated and special schools, teachers, school principals and journalists, these ambassadors will share inspirational stories of personal experience with the wider and professional public to raise awareness about the benefits and impact of inclusive education and desegregation has.   

The ambassadors also will support educators and relevant educational authorities to improve learning and governance processes to respond to the needs of all children, irrespective of their socio-economic, ethnic, language and other differences.

The Inclusive Education Ambassadors Initiative is organised within the framework of the European Union & Council of Europe Joint Project – Inclusive Schools: Making a Difference for Roma Children.
