Diversity – Inclusion issues
This school characterized as multiethnic and multicultural. It has a considerable number of students coming from various ethnic backgrounds: beside Albanian majority, in gymnasium are also enrolled Bosnian, Gorani, Turkish, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian students. All students of these ethnicities are learning in three languages: Albanian, Bosnian and Turkish. The school affiliates students coming from urban and rural area, from Albania and Bosnian villages. Students of all ethnicities are socializing together in various school activities, understand each-others diversity, have representation in school clubs, whereas in various school activities parents have also the opportunity to be together. There are teachers of diverse ethnic backgrounds such as Bosnian, Gorani, Turkish, Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian ones.
Level of inclusive practices/experience
The school fully implements legal provisions coming out of Law on Pre-university Education and Law on Education in Municipalities. At municipal level, a Regulation for Teachers and Students in upper secondary schools is developed and approved by municipal assembly, which regulates issues related to conducting principles of inclusion and the rights on representation to all students in school life. School has also drafted its own regulation, consisted of general ethic code, code of teacher's behavior, student's behavior, principles of conduct, including working policy etc. One of the examples is registering/enrollment quotes for students coming from other ethnicities such as students from Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian community, whereas with this policy it is ensured a right to inclusion, also stated in Kosovo* Education Strategic Plan/KESP.
