Representatives of the judicial institutions of Montenegro visited the Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg

The representatives of the Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils and the Center for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution Service who participated in the study visit to the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg on 12-15 March 2019 are now more aware and familiar with the work of the Council of Europe standard setting and monitoring bodies.

During the two-day study visit, meetings were held with the Head of Justice and Legal Cooperation Department, the Head of the Division for the independence and efficiency of justice (CEPEJ), with representatives of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE), Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE), with a judge of the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of Montenegro. In addition, colleagues from the Directorate for gender policies delivered a workshop on gender mainstreaming in the judiciary focusing on the topics of women’s access to justice - availability and accessibility of justice services, legal aid and equal career opportunities for female legal professionals.

The study visit took place within the Horizontal Facility Action “Accountability of the Judicial System”, jointly funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
