Meeting at the Supreme Court of Justice

On 1-3 June 2015, a delegation of the European Commission for the efficiency of justice (CEPEJ) experts visited the Republic of Moldova in the framework of the Project “Strengthening the efficiency of justice and support to lawyers’ profession in the Republic of Moldova”, which is part of the CoE/EU Eastern Partnership Programmatic Cooperation Framework 2015-2017, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe.

The CEPEJ experts met with representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Superior Council of Magistrates, the National Institute of Justice, the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, as well as other courts which are involved in the implementation of the CEPEJ time management and quality tools. On 1 June, a workshop was held to explain in detail the SATURN Guidelines for judicial time management, the checklist for promoting the quality of justice and the courts and other CEPEJ quality tools.

On 2-3 June, the CEPEJ experts visited three out of the six pilot courts, which had been selected in cooperation with the Superior Council of Magistrates, and the first meeting of the working group on implementation of the CEPEJ tools and country-specific recommendations on efficiency and quality of justice and court performance (WG EQUAL) was held.
