On 10 October, the Palace of Culture of Soroca hosted the first LSG meeting within the COMUS project. The event brought together official national and local authorities who manage cultural heritage, as well as representatives of the local community in Soroca. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Andrei Chistol opened the meeting, emphasizing the role of cultural heritage for local development, and introducing COMUS as an opportunity for including heritage as a component of urban development documents.
Support was also confirmed by the Deputy Mayor and the chief architect of Soroca, who consider COMUS as a valuable instrument for local growth and for enhancing the role of the town as a regional historic centre. Participants had the opportunity to discuss and debate about local challenges from a heritage perspective, but also tackled related topics such as problems of habitat, traffic management and the enhancement of public spaces.
