On 21 March 2017 the Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection hosted the national stakeholders, international donor organizations and diplomatic representatives to present COMUS progress and the priority actions promoted by the pilot towns.
The meeting was moderated by Mr. Levan Kharatishvili, Deputy Minister of Culture and Monuments Protection of Georgia and attended by high officials from the Council of Europe office in Tbilisi and European Union Delegation to Georgia, national authorities, members of national Parliament as well as representatives of the World Bank, embassies of Unites States, Italy, France, Romania and Bulgaria, representatives of the different national agencies and organizations.
Dusheti and Chiatura Mayors and COMUS local project managers presented the visions for the community led sustainable development of their pilot towns and role of cultural and natural heritage in the process. The Priority Actions were as well as COMUS brochures and films were presented to the audience.
The project was positively assessed by the stakeholders. The need for transferring knowledge from the pilot towns to other self-governments was particularly stressed. The Ministry of Culture as well as the national stakeholders and pilot towns reiterated their commitment to the principles of participatory governance and introduced and promoted by the project.
