Training for lawyers on freedom of expression and the right to access public documents

Lawyers from different municipalities were introduced to the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Convention on Access to Official Documents (“the Tromsø Convention”), as well as to the domestic legal provisions and case law on the right to access public documents. Moreover, the role of the Information and Privacy Agency concerning the right to access information/documents were also elaborated.

The training applied an interactive and inclusive approach. Lively discussions on different case studies in the field of access to public documents were practiced and the application of ECHR standards was thoroughly discussed by all those present. The event was organised under the Grant Agreement with the Bar Association.

The training was organised within the action “Freedom of expression and freedom of the media in Kosovo*”, which is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019 – 2022”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
