High Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils enhance their inter-institutional cooperation and implementation of CEPEJ tools

In the frame of the Albanian Justice Day, senior representatives and staff of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils gathered in a high level event in Korça. Supported by the European Union and the Council of Europe action SEJ IV, the purpose of the event was to enhance their inter-institutional co-operation and the application of relevant CEPEJ tools in addressing unified interpretation and implementation of legislation and the new judicial map.

Senior Council of Europe expert and former CEPEJ president, Georg Stawa, introduced the CEPEJ tools for the judicial time management, judicial communication, including the work of CEPEJ for a new tool on backlog reduction, particularly relevant in the current phase of the judicial map implementation.

The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Councils' follow up discussions focused on concrete ways to address their common challenges to reducing the backlog and improving communication with media and the public, in context of the new judicial map. 

The meeting was attended by Adea Pirdeni, deputy Minister of Justice, Artur Metani, High Inspector of Justice, Irena Gjoka, President of the Special Court against Corruption and Organised Crime, as well as members of the Constitutional Court, representative from the Delegation of the European Union to Albania and other partners supporting the judicial reform in Albania such as EU4Justice and OPDAT .

The activity was organised by the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV) in the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
