Improving the training curricula of the Justice Academy in Kosovo*

On 21 January 2020, the expert of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), Ms Marina Naumovska met with the newly-appointed director of the Justice Academy in Pristina as well as the heads of the initial and continuous training programmes to discuss ways to improve its curricula with CEPEJ standards and methodology.

The expert also met with relevant stakeholders in the courts, prosecution, and the bar association. The objective was to explore the relevance and need of launching a Training Needs Assessment to further improve the training programme for court and prosecution staff. This target group has become part of the Academy’s portfolio with the latest amendments of the Law on the Academy. More generally, the Action intends to update existing modules to include CEPEJ standards and to develop new ones where necessary.

This activity was organised within the KoSEJ II Action “Strengthening the quality and efficiency of justice in Kosovo”, which is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II".
