Combating discrimination in Montenegro: new training for civil servants at local level being conducted

As part of the efforts to reinforce the fight against discrimination in Montenegro and raise awareness on international and European standards in this regard, but also on the forms of redress at the national level, an online training for civil servants at local level was held on 23 April 2021.

The participants were acquainted with the key non-discrimination principles, national protection mechanisms, respective roles of the competent institutions in ensuring rule of law, equality, and non-discrimination, expanding also to international and European developments in this field, and the obligations of state parties to relevant human rights instruments and mechanisms.

The training was conducted as part of the action on “Promotion of diversity and equality in Montenegro”, that is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, implemented by the Anti-Discrimination Department of the Council of Europe.
