Second Steering Committee meeting of the action on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media (JUFREX)

The EU/CoE action on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the media (JUFREX) organised the Steering Committee meeting with the representatives of the partner institutions/organisations of the project, involved in the implementation of project activities on 31 March 2021.

This is the second meeting of this nature during which the partner institutions had the opportunity to express their views on the implementation process as well as plans for the upcoming activities, envisaged in the workplan of the project.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Council of Europe and the European Union Office in Pristina as well as local institutions including the Academy of Justice, the Kosovo Bar Association, the Independent Media Commission, the Kosovo Journalists Association, the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety and the University of Pristina.

The participants in the meeting expressed their readiness to continue the excellent already established cooperation in the implementation of activities of all project components. The meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the JUFREX 2 and to take stock of activities carried out during the past year and as well as to discuss the way forward into the second half of the project implementation. The cooperation with the partner institutions established was acknowledged and appreciated. Moreover, the SC members and all participants assessed that the good communication between implementing partners helped the project to achieve excellent results during the very challenging and difficult year as a result of the pandemic.

This action is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey II”, a co-operation initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, which aims at assisting Beneficiaries in the Western Balkans region and Turkey to comply with the Council of Europe standards and European Union acquis in the framework of the enlargement process, where relevant.
