Workshop on the development of the national Action Plan on combatting trafficking in human beings in Türkiye

The consultation workshop on the development of the national Action Plan on combatting trafficking in human beings in Türkiye with the central and provincial personnel were held in Antalya on 12-13 December 2022. The workshop brought together 31 participants, from Presidency of Migration Management, and Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, and it was organised under the joint European Union and Council of Europe action on  “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey”.

During the workshop sessions Public Prosecutor Rıfat Sagut from Court of Cassation of Türkiye and clinic psychologist Gökçen Çetiner İşbilen provided valuable information on the legal framework of the trafficking in human beings (ThB) and interviewing technics, while Furkan Buldur, Ekin Sevil Gürünlü from Presidency of Migration Management delivered sessions on ThB in Türkiye and Hünkar Burkan İbin on Assisted Voluntary Return. 

There were fruitful discussions about the Third National Action Plan, which will be produced by the Presidency of Migration Management. The project reports were introduced, and the important findings were presented to the participants. The workshop was useful in detailing the information flow from the provincial to the national level, which would feed into the development process of the National Action Plan. During the sessions, fruitful discussions on the way forwards were held. The workshop was highly interactive, and attendees provided useful feedback on the situation in the provinces.

This training was organised within the framework of the action “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey”, part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
