The new generation of future trainers in the field of women’s access to justice in Türkiye attended and successfully completed the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP)- Training of Trainers course which will allow them to be tutors and conduct trainings in the field. 29 representatives (26 women and 3 men) coming from academia and local bar associations were equipped with key resources and knowledge tools on women’s access to justice. According to the participants, this capacity building activity was an opportunity to get further acquainted with HELP courses and the Council of Europe’s work on human rights education, and in particular to extend their knowledge on best European practices and Council of Europe tools to ensure women’s access to justice.   

The training included presentations on the Council of Europe HELP programme, its methodology, its e-learning platform, and the HELP course on “Access to justice for women” which has been translated and adopted to the national context during the first phase of the action. As a next step, successful participants of the ToT will become certified HELP tutors in Türkiye and take a role in delivering the HELP course on “Access to justice for women” in bar associations and universities in the coming months.

This event was organised under the framework of the action on “Fostering women's access to justice in Türkiye”, part of the European Union and Council of Europe’s joint programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye". The action contributes to enhancing accessibility and quality of legal aid services for women and supporting key stakeholders, including civil society, as well as to increase legal awareness and literacy among women in Türkiye.
