A series of meetings with stakeholders in the area of corruption prevention was held on 16 March 2022, within the joint European Union and Council of Europe Action against economic crime in Montenegro.

Objective of the mission was to collect the information on implementation of Law on Prevention of Corruption, more precisely – those legal provisions which regulate the position of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption in Montenegrin administration, Agency’s powers, manner of appointment and dismissal of its bodies and senior managers and means of financing and disposing with the budget.

Obtained information will be used to identify potential legal gaps which could jeopardise independency of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption, limit its functioning, or open space for political pressure. Based on the analysis of the legislation and best practices, a set of recommendations for improvement of the legislation in this part will be offered.

The meetings were organised within the framework of the Action against economic crime in Montenegro, which is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019 – 2022”.
