New tool on recognising the signs of radicalisation available to Montenegrin prison system

Administration for execution of criminal sanctions (AECS) was enriched by a new tool which refers to the instruments for assessing the risk of radicalisation of prisoners. One of the instruments is a basic screening tool intended for health care providers, which would serve to identify the first signs of radicalisation and based on these instruments, to signal to the treatment departments when a deeper risk assessment is needed. Development of new tools was followed by according trainings, enabling 25 AECS officers to apply these tools in practice.

The training sessions were carried out in a hybrid format, with the consultants and participants present on site while others joined on-line, in accordance with COVID-19 preventive measures.

New tools and trainings were designed and conducted under the action “Further enhancing human rights protection for detained and sentenced persons in Montenegro”, as a part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme „Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022“, implemented by the Council of Europe.
