The First Meeting of the Beneficiary Steering Committee of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”, will be held on Wednesday, 20 September 2023, from 9:30h onwards, at the hotel Crowne Plaza (Vladimira Popovića 10).
Opening remarks will be given by:
- Miroslav Gačević, Assistant Minister of European integration of the Republic of Serbia
- Nicola Bertolini, Head of Co-operation, Delegation of the European Union to Serbia
- Schnutz Rudolf Dürr, Head of Programming and Resource Mobilisation Department, Directorate of Programme Co-ordination, Council of Europe
The opening session will be moderated by Nadia Ćuk, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade ad interim.
The meeting will offer an opportunity to discuss with beneficiary institutions key achievements of the Horizontal Facility actions that have been implemented in Serbia so far, as well as its plans for the future.
The introductory panel is open to the media. Interested media representatives should register by sending an e-mail to [email protected] no later than 14:00h on 19 September. Simultaneous interpretation to English/Serbian will be provided.
The joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye” (Horizontal Facility III) is a co-operation initiative, running from 2023 until 2026. It enables the Beneficiaries to meet their reform agendas in the fields of human rights, rule of law and democracy and to comply with European standards, which is also a priority for the EU enlargement process. The current, third phase of the programme, is worth €41 million (85% funded by the European Union, 15% by the Council of Europe).
