Fourth multi-stakeholder meeting aimed at supporting women's access to justice in Diyarbakır

The fourth multi-stakeholder meeting to discuss challenges and possible solutions to ensuring women’s equal access to justice will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Diyarbakır from 09.45 to 17.00 on Monday 19 September 2022, as a part of the European Union and Council of Europe’s joint action on “Fostering women's access to justice in Turkey”.

The following speakers will give introductory remarks:

Atty. Nahit Eren, President of Diyarbakır Bar Association
Pınar Başpınar, Head of Operations at the Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara
Assist. Prof. Asuman Aytekin İnceoğlu, Member of Istanbul Bilgi University Faculty of Law

The meeting aims to identify the barriers faced by women in accessing justice, to strengthen inter-institutional dialogue and to create local and sustainable networks to support women’s access to justice. The meeting also aims to raise awareness about gender equality and gender-sensitive practices that consider and respond to the needs of women to access available remedies and services.

The meeting will bring together representatives of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, local bar associations and legal aid centres, public institutions and agencies, violence prevention centres, women's shelters, victim support units, municipalities, universities, civil society organisations and experts working in the fields of combating gender-based violence and gender equality.

The introductory speeches at the meeting will be open to the media (09:45 – 10.15).

Interpretation in English/Turkish will be provided.

Following the multi-stakeholder meetings in Ordu, Muğla and Nevşehir provinces, the fourth and last meeting is being held in Diyarbakır within the scope of the action on “Fostering women's access to justice in Turkey”, implemented within the framework of the European Union and Council of Europe’s joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022".
