MEDIA ADVISORY: Presentation of mid-term results for Belarus projects

On Thursday, 3 November, the Council of Europe and European Union will present in Minsk the mid-term results of projects for Eastern Partnership countries, including Belarus.

The two country-specific projects carried out in in Belarus under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework (PCF) in 2015-2017 are funded by the EU and the Council of Europe, and are implemented by the Council of Europe. Their total budget is 215,000 Euros.

The projects focus on the facilitation of the accession of Belarus to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, as well as on promoting good governance and fighting corruption.

In addition to these two country-specific projects, Belarus also participates in 13 regional initiatives covering all Eastern Partnership countries.

Verena Taylor, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes of the Council of Europe; Ambassador Andrea Witkorin, Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus; Andrei Yaroshkin, National Coordinator for the Programmatic Co-operation Framework, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus; and Arkadi Sytine, PCF Co-ordinator, Council of Europe, will address the participants.

The first part of the event during which the project results will be presented is open to media from 14:30 to 15:15 on Thursday, 3 November, at the VIP Conference Hall of the President Hotel (vulica Kirava 18, Minsk). Language regime: English-Belarusian. Journalists will be able to pose questions to the speakers during the break.
