Objectives

The overall objective of the project is to enhance – in line with the Beneficiaries' commitments to EU accession and Council of Europe standards*  – social inclusion and social cohesion in the region by promoting inclusive education and training.

In order to realize this objective, the project will promote the concept of inclusive education as a reform principle that respects and caters for diversity amongst all learners, with a specific focus on those who are at a higher risk of marginalisation and exclusion.

The overall objective will be achieved through the specific objective of promoting the concept of inclusive education, as well as relevant policies and practices in the formal education system at pre-university level in South East Europe in five specific areas:

*In particular the European Social Charter and the New Strategy and Council of Europe Action Plan for Social Cohesion (approved by the Committee of Ministers on 7 July 2010).

Teacher learning for inclusion: working group to meet in Pristina

Teachers in South East Europe need to be supported with innovative approaches and tools that enhance inclusive practices. The Project is leading a consultation process in the region with the aim of contributing to the development of teacher competences for inclusive education. As part of this process the Project will bring together a working group with participants from the three Networks: SchoolNet, TeacherNet and PolicyNet.

The key theme of the meeting will be teacher learning for inclusive education, with focus on the process and tools for achieving it. Discussions will be held around the draft overarching methodology and the tools that can be used by teacher educators in the region to upgrade and improve existing programmes for inclusive education in pre-service, in-service and mentorship teacher training. The one-day meeting will be organised in Pristina, on 18 November 2014.
