Objectives

The overall objective of the project is to enhance – in line with the Beneficiaries' commitments to EU accession and Council of Europe standards*  – social inclusion and social cohesion in the region by promoting inclusive education and training.

In order to realize this objective, the project will promote the concept of inclusive education as a reform principle that respects and caters for diversity amongst all learners, with a specific focus on those who are at a higher risk of marginalisation and exclusion.

The overall objective will be achieved through the specific objective of promoting the concept of inclusive education, as well as relevant policies and practices in the formal education system at pre-university level in South East Europe in five specific areas:

*In particular the European Social Charter and the New Strategy and Council of Europe Action Plan for Social Cohesion (approved by the Committee of Ministers on 7 July 2010).

Inclusive school – Foundation of a Socially Just Society

NEPC Summer School is an annual learning event intended for Policy Makers & Implementers at national and regional level, Researchers, Education Specialists and Graduate Students in education policy from all over the world

Summer school 2014 will be dedicated to two topics:

  • Living together, Learning together: policies and practices that enhance social cohesion in  multi – ethnic/cultural and religious societies
  • Empathy is not enough: existing policies for economically disadvantaged pupils and exploring the issues of economic disadvantage and poverty on inclusive practices in schools.

Objectives of the event:

  1. Offer various theoretical perspectives of inclusive education at the school level
  2. Describe different inclusive policies, both at the political and at school level
  3. Provide specific examples of possibilities for inclusive teaching
  4. Explore those barriers to inclusiveness which are not covered by policies or practice
