Electronic court summonses pilot tested in the Basic Court of Pristina

On 16 November, a team composed of a judge in the civil division at the Basic Court of Pristina, a legal secretary, and a trainer from the Case Management Information System project, conducted a pilot test to confirm that court summonses can be generated from the case management system and sent to lawyers by email. The aim of this activity is to gradually replace paper summonses with electronic ones, which will automatically incorporate information previously entered into the system, such as the date and time of the hearing, the names of the judge and the lawyer, as well as the case number.

This should ease the workload of legal secretaries eliminating the time and effort needed to process paper summonses from the office of the judge to the delivery officers, who are in charge of delivering them to lawyers by post.  The results of the pilot test will be presented to the Kosovo Judicial Council and the Bar Association before implementing the electronic summonses activity on a wider scale.

This activity has been organised by the KoSEJ II Action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Kosovo*”, which is part of the programme entitled "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
