Supporting the School of Magistrates in Albania with CEPEJ tools and methodologies

An online training seminar on Performance Evaluation on CEPEJ tools was organized today with key court presidents and chancellors of the district and appeal courts as part of the continuous trainings of the School of Magistrates. It is part of a training package pertaining to Performance Evaluation, Time Management and Judicial Statistics developed under the European Union/Council of Europe joined action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania” (SEJ III). These modules aim to provide the School of Magistrates with a complete package to deliver similar trainings in the future both in person and online platforms, as well as to be used individually by the interested magistrates and court administrators. The modules will be further developed to be also part of the HELP platform.

Addressing the event, the Head of the Council of Europe in Tirana, Jutta Gützkow, tackled the progress of the ongoing reforms in the field of justice stressing the continuous support provided to the Albanian authorities by EU and Council of Europe.

In the context of the Greek Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Greek Ambassador in Albania, H.E. Sophia Philippidou, emphasized the importance of strengthening the efficiency of justice and related institutions for a functioning democracy and the EU integration processes.

In his remarks, the director of the School of Magistrates valued the CEPEJ tools and training modules ensuring the full support to the trainings related to court management.

Distinguished participants expressed high appreciation for such trainings on CEPEJ tools and indicators, as well as the support of the SEJIII action, especially in the current conditions when the courts face additional workload and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania” is part of the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022” programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
