National Conference for the Safer Internet Day: Together to protect our children

The Safer Internet Day national conference was organised 8 February 2022 in Rabat by the Moroccan Center for Polytechnic Research and Innovation- CMRPI, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Digital Development Agency, with the support of the Council of Europe in the framework of the south Programme IV. Held on the occasion of the Safer Internet Day under the slogan "All together to protect our children against cyberviolence and cyberbullying", this activity celebrated under the aegis of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform in Morocco, gathered participants of institutions, stakeholders in online and digital protection in Morocco, as well as international organisations.

The Safer Internet Day is an annual event that calls for mobilisation of all stakeholders in online and digital protection to raise awareness of good practices of responsible and positive use of the Internet in Morocco.

In the context of the Covid 19 pandemic, marked by an intensified use of the Internet, children and young people are increasingly confronted with the multiple risks and dangers of the Internet, particularly exposure to offensive content, cyber-violence, cyber-bullying, online sexual solicitation, but also the risk of addiction to screens.

The national Conference Safer Internet Day - Morocco was an opportunity to recall the key role of digital education and to present the initiatives of various actors of online protection and digital education, especially the pilot-project to fight against cyber-harassment and bullying in the school environment, initiated in January 2022, by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, in partnership, the ReSiS Center and the CMRPI, with the support of the Council of Europe, as well as to launch the 5th edition of the national campaign on the secure use of the Internet in schools.

Several resources and awareness materials are available on the Safer Internet Day web page, on the national e-Himaya portal, as well as on the Genie program management portal.

The South Programme IV is a joint programme of the Council of Europe and the European Union, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
