Capacity building for parents and guardians for a better protection of children online

In the framework of the South Programme IV and the Morocco Cyberconfidence Space project, for the protection of children online in Morocco, the Council of Europe is organising a capacity building workshop for parents and guardians for a better protection of children online, in partnership with the National federation of associations of parents of students in Morocco, on Tuesday, 29 June 2021 in Rabat.

This workshop will be facilitated by national and international speakers, including Instagram and Kaspersky, and with the participation of digital industries and representatives of the young children committee.

This workshop will be an opportunity to discuss the main issues facing parents and to present the tools available to them to better protect children online. In this respect, the awareness-raising videos (in Moroccan dialect) “Parents” and “Children and the Internet” will be presented again as well as the Reporting portal, launched in February 2021 in Morocco, which allows Moroccan citizens to securely and anonymously report images and videos of sexual abuse against children posted on the Internet.

Morocco has become the 45th country in the world with such a portal set up by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), the 13th in Africa and the very first in the North African region.
