Roma women community leaders meet the Bulgarian equality bodies

As part of the JUSTROM3 component of empowering Roma women, the Roma women community leaders from Bulgaria met the office of the Ombudsman and the Commission for Protection against Discrimination. The meetings, taking place in June and July 2021, were an opportunity for the Roma women to receive firsthand information on how the two bodies work. The two institutions explained how complaints could be filed before the Commission for the Protection against Discrimination and before other Bulgarian institutions. The Roma women presented cases they have identified in their communities, relevant for the work of the two institutions.

The Roma women community leaders have previously benefited from a mentoring programme within JUSTROM3 and are currently running outreach activities in their communities.
