Youth policy in Greece (2015) – new Council of Europe publication

This international review focused in particular on two aspects of youth transitions: the transition from the education system to the labour market; and the related issue of military service and conscription, which is an integral part of life for young men in Greece. The review team also considered characteristics of the public administration, which dwells on bureaucratic compliance and has limited scope and licence for fostering initiative and creativity, despite incessant rhetoric about the need for “entrepreneurship”.

ILO call for papers: Labour Market Transitions of Young Women and Men

The ILO “Work4Youth” Project and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) invite researchers to submit proposals for innovative research papers relevant to labour market transitions of young women and men in developing countries, making use of one or several of the recent “school-to-work transition survey (SWTS)” datasets from 30 countries. The deadline for submission is Wednesday 30 September 2015.

Following consultation with international experts on the Model of Competences, the Education Department of the Council of Europe now welcomes feedback from education professionals at all levels on descriptors for these competences. This questionnaire is available in English, French, Russian, Georgian, Italian, Romanian and Spanish. German and Serbian will be added shortly. Whether teacher, teacher trainer, lecturer, curriculum designer or education policy maker your participation will be greatly appreciated.
