EC publication on Youth work and non-formal learning in Europe's education landscape has been released

This publication marks a quarter of a century of EU youth programmes accompanied by EU youth policy. It brings together a range of views and highlights best practices with the aim of stimulating
debate about what youth work and non-formal learning can contribute, alongside other sectors, to European education. From diverse viewpoints, it reviews EU co-operation in the field, points to successes and sets out possible future scenarios, particularly in the context of the Erasmus+ programme (2014-2020).

European Platform on Learning Mobility: Bi-Annual Conference, Istanbul (7-9 October 2015)

The bi-annual conference of the European Platform on Learning Mobility (EPLM) took place in Istanbul on 7-9 October 2015. It brought together 102 researchers, practitioners, volunteers, policy makers, institutions and organisations in the youth field working on the topic of learning mobility, as well as representatives of the corporate sector, the European Youth Press, the Orange Magazine and the Coyote Editorial team. The conference was preceded by a meeting of researchers concerned with learning mobilty in the youth field.

Youth policy in Greece (2015) – new Council of Europe publication

This international review focused in particular on two aspects of youth transitions: the transition from the education system to the labour market; and the related issue of military service and conscription, which is an integral part of life for young men in Greece. The review team also considered characteristics of the public administration, which dwells on bureaucratic compliance and has limited scope and licence for fostering initiative and creativity, despite incessant rhetoric about the need for “entrepreneurship”.

ILO call for papers: Labour Market Transitions of Young Women and Men

The ILO “Work4Youth” Project and the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) invite researchers to submit proposals for innovative research papers relevant to labour market transitions of young women and men in developing countries, making use of one or several of the recent “school-to-work transition survey (SWTS)” datasets from 30 countries. The deadline for submission is Wednesday 30 September 2015.
