In this section of the Visible Value, you may find the real treasure from the field of recognition of youth work. This is a well-selected collection of the recognition tools and practices that have been developed all over Europe.

We hope it will inspire you to develop your own or at least to imagine what the recognition might look like in very practical terms. Our intention is that this collection is regularly updated. So, if you are aware of other tools and practices that deserve to be included, please, let us know. In the meantime, enjoy the current collection.

Back myESNcareer

Validation system developed by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN)

Short description:

The myESNcareer service is a long-term service offered by Erasmus Student Network (ESN) designed to help volunteers better understand how they learn and develop in ESN, how they can use their experience in ESN to gain opportunities in and outside of the network (positions, jobs, higher education, mobility, internship/traineeship, etc) as well as how ESN contributes to their employability and how they can use it to their advantage in the oversaturated labour market. This service directly contributes to the Skills and Employability cause in ESN, touching upon competence development as well as recognition and employability of youth workers. It is managed by the myESNcareer pool, a pool of members in the Network Committee trained to mentor, support and assess the development of our volunteers.

The validation activity allows the volunteers to identify, document and assess their competences, and receive the certificate that describes their learning during the validation process. As the participant of the validation activity, you will have an opportunity to think about the career you would like to have in ESN and focus on the development of the competences which will better prepare you to progress and build your career in ESN. The validation activity allows the participants to become more self-aware of the competences that they develop thanks to the volunteering activities that they do in ESN, as well as have a more structured and organised learning process that allows them to better plan and understand their growth and development. The validation activity is based on mentoring principles and each of the participants will have a mentor who will be continuously supporting them through their process. Additionally, at the end of the process, the participants will receive a certificate, a micro-credential that will be added to their Europass profile and will be offered consultations on how to translate their experience in ESN and verbalise the competences that they have developed in an interview or a motivation/cover letter for a job or another similar opportunity to support their transition from volunteering to the labour market.
