Céline Guth, Senior Project Officer at the Council of Europe’s Sport Division, delivered a presentation on the joint European Union – Council of Europe project “Sport For All” at the European Conference Shaping Europe Through Sport and Physical Activity – How Engagement in Sport and Physical Activity Shapes Culture. The conference was organised in the framework of the 2026 European Sport for All Games, which took place on 6-11 August 2026 in Limerick, Ireland.
During her presentation, Céline highlighted the Council of Europe’s work in the field of sport, including the European Sports Charter, and shared key outcomes from the “Sport For All” project. She focused in particular on good practices identified in each participating country through the needs assessment exercise and capacity-building training workshops, webinar recommendations, and the educational toolkit for sport professionals aiming to improve the inclusion of persons with disabilities in sport within their organisations or communities. Céline also emphasised the importance of visibility and awareness-raising in promoting the human rights of persons with disabilities in sport.
The 3rd TAFISA European Sport For All Games united communities, cultures, and traditions from across Europe in celebration of inclusion, participation, and diversity through Sport for All. Hosted by Limerick Sports Partnership in collaboration with Sport Ireland and a wide network of national and local partners, the 2026 Games featured a four day programme of traditional, emerging, and recreational sports, as well as cultural performances, conferences, and festivals throughout the city.
These Games served as a unique opportunity to bring people together, encourage the sharing of traditions and cultural heritage, and promote active lifestyles. They provided an inclusive environment where people of all generations could enjoy sport, fostering intergenerational bonds and strengthening community spirit.
