On 5-6 December 2019 in Sweimeh, Jordan, the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe organises, with the support of the South Programme III, a follow-up seminar to the Lisbon Forum 2018 which called upon international agencies, national governments and local authorities to urgently establish policy dialogue processes with young people on issues related to peace and security.
With the participation of youth-related civil society organisations, the United Nations, the Organisation for security and co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the African Union, the Council of Europe and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, this two-day follow-up seminar aims at identifying the “take-ins” that interregional cooperation and exchanges of knowledge and good practices between different stakeholders could bring in defining a more youth-inclusive global agenda for peace. This process will also highlight the strong mobilisating effect of young people in achieving Council of Europe and other international platforms’ objectives of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
