Fight against trafficking in human beings in Morocco: awareness-raising on the Council of Europe Convention at the universities of Settat and Béni-Mellal

In the framework of the South Programme III, the universities of Settat and Béni-Mellal opened their doors for two awareness-raising meetings aimed at increasing awareness amongst students, teachers and other involved professionals regarding the national and international framework for the fight against trafficking in human beings, as well as the role of the main stakeholders, on 16 and 17 April 2019. Held in the context of the implementation of Law 27-14 on the fight against trafficking in human beings whose provisions are inspired by the Council of Europe Convention in this area, these meetings allowed to remind the concept and definition of human trafficking according to international standards, to insist on the institutional arrangements for coordination and to clarify the role of the judiciary, the lawyers and civil society in the protections of victims of trafficking, namely through their access to the different public services concerned.

The South Programme III is a joint programme of the Council of Europe and the European Union, financed by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
