Back National Police Training event in Romania

National Police Training event in Romania

After the events in Lithuania and Bulgaria the third national police training event took place in Bucharest (Romania) from 9-11 May 2018. The main objective of the ProS4+ subproject 5 was to develop and deliver customized “one country” trainings for countries that have signed and therefore show commitment to ratify the new 2016 Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events. In doing so, they agreed to act in a manner that is consistent with the principles and key outcomes set out in its provision, notably Article 9 (“police strategies and operations”) and Article 10 (“prevention and sanctioning of offending behaviour”).

The aim of the seminar was to promote the adoption of an integrated approach to safety, security and service in connection with football matches (and other sports events) in Romania through the provision of training to key policing football decision makers and practitioners on:

  • the established good practices enshrined in Council of Europe and EU documentation on policing football, both inside and outside of stadia; and
  • developing and implementing football policing strategies, tactics and operations that are consistent.

In co-operation with the Romanian Gendarmerie the seminar brought together, among others, senior policy makers, NFIP personnel, spotters and police commanders. Other European partners such as UEFA, Supporter Direct Europe and Football Supporters Europe  also contributed to this training event.
