PSS Closing Conference in Rome

Monday, 4 May, 2015 saw the successful European launch of the Pro Safe Sport (PSS) toolkit to promote the well-being of young athletes in Rome, Italy. The two day conference underlined the importance of safe and healthy sport environments, so that sport continues to be attractive and popular to young athletes. The conference concluded that the Pro Safe Sport toolkit can be a very useful tool to achieve this goal.

The event brought together some 50 experts from important stakeholders in the field of sport: The European Parliament, the European Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, UNICEF, UNESCO, national public authorities responsible for sport and civil society organisations such as SportAccord, national Olympic committees and other specialist organisations. The participants engaged in lively discussions and exchange of views, experience and expertise.

The Pro Safe Sport toolkit was produced in the framework of an 18 months long project which was managed by the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport of the Council of Europe (EPAS) in cooperation with other stakeholders such as the European Commission which co-financed it. The PSS kit consists of a self-assessment tool and other useful resources enabling users of this kit to develop ideas and action plans to promote the well-being of young athletes.
