Round tables ongoing in Child Safeguarding in Sport (CSiS) partner countries

Round tables continue to be organised in CSiS partner countries. These are important encounters for preparing country-specific roadmaps to develop effective policies on child safeguarding in sport.

Portugal is the first partner country to prepare its draft roadmap, which was presented to the national Steering Committee during the second national round table (26 May 2021). The draft roadmap was finalised afterwards and will now be submitted to the Steering Committee for approval.

In Norway (3 and 9 June) and in Croatia (2 July) the first round tables have now taken place. During these meetings roadmap development methodologies were presented and ideas were shared to seek ways to improve the efficiency of the child safeguarding in sport policy, based on the results of desk research. Models and specific requirements for designing Child Safeguarding Officer roles were discussed with the support of and input from international experts; good practice experts also shared their valuable know-how and experiences based on policies they had already implemented.

In Austria (1 September) and in Belgium, Federation Wallonia-Brussels (3 September) second round tables were held. On these occasions draft roadmaps were presented and discussions took place to ensure the successful finalisation of the road maps; this included identifying what was needed to endorse the roadmaps and ensure their successful implementation. These roundtables also provided an opportunity to outline the role and commitment of a range of organisations, including from the sport and child protection sectors.

The second round tables in Israel, Norway and Croatia are scheduled to take place in the near future.
