Ukraine’s Financial Intelligence Unit provided with recommendations for anti-money laundering statistical data collection
The Council of Europe has provided recommendations to further improve a set of comprehensive anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing statistical indicators developed by State Financial Monitoring Service (Financial Intelligence Unit of Ukraine). Adequate data collection is essential for the authorities in providing future evidence regarding the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing regime. The recommendations and proposals provided by the Council of Europe aim at improving the structure of the statistical tool and further aligning the various types of data with the specific requirements of the Financial Action Task Force’s standards. The development of these indicators will facilitate the statistical reporting as required by Ukraine’s new Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorist Financing Law, to enter into force in April 2020.
This activity is implemented as part of the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance II, Project “Strengthening measures to counter money laundering and financing of terrorism in Ukraine”.
