Following a 5 years’ co-operation through the ROMED Programme, the Council of Europe and European Commission’s DG EAC initiated a new joint project focusing on inclusive education for Roma children, which will be implemented for a minimum of 20 months.
The official title of the project is “Inclusive Schools: Making a difference for Roma children (INSCHOOL)”, and it will focus on five countries of implementation: the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovak Republic and United Kingdom.
Pilot schools as well as national support schools (schools with proven experience in inclusive education for Roma students) will be selected in cooperation with the Ministries in charge of education in each country. At national level, national working groups will be established gathering representatives of the ministries of education, pedagogical institutions and Roma inclusion experts with the aim of gathering evidence of gaps between practice and policies.
