The INSCHOOL Project continues its recently launched activities in Romania with a training targeting principals and staff of the six selected schools located in Bucharest (2nd district), Chitila (IF), Cilibia (BZ), Buzau (BZ), Pietrosani (TL) and Contesti (TL).

From each school, four dedicated professionals attended the training, which was led by the Romanian INSCHOOL Team in close cooperation with ARACIP (Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Primary Education) and ISE (Institute for Educational Sciences), and with the participation of UNICEF.

The aim of the training was to adopt a common vision of inclusive education, following closely the main dimensions of the Index for Inclusion (4th edition, T. Booth & M. Ainscow), but also integrating the Romanian legislative requirements in terms of strategic school instruments and the importance of adapting these tools to the realities in each school. The presence of partners from ARACIP (represented by Mr Serban Iosifescu, director) and ISE (represented by Mr Paul Blendea), was key in connecting the actions led by schools to wider policies at national level, and in connecting the future work of a National Working Group in Romania on inclusive education.

The venue of the meeting was kindly provided by the University of Bucharest – the training was held within the premises of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Assistance.

INSCHOOL Facilitators have already started work with schools on a regular basis, with the aim of developing an Inclusive School Development Plan by July 2018, based on which schools will receive grants for implementation.
