COVID-19 Pandemic and INSCHOOL implementation – impact mitigation measures

The outbreak of Coronavirus in INSCHOOL implementation countries and the governments’ measures taken to diminish the spread of the virus have affected the Project significantly. As INSCHOOL’s purpose is to work with pupils, teachers and non-teaching staff, but also the parents and communities, the closure of schools means that the interventions in schools have been suspended and national events postponed. However, this does not imply that the project will stop. The national teams together with the CoE implementation team are currently working on mitigation measures and preparing a response for three possible scenarios:

  • SCENARIO 1 - lockdown of schools for less than 45 days;
  • SCENARIO 2 - lockdown of schools for more than 45 days up to end of school year;
  • SCENARIO 3 - freezing of the remaining school year and resuming the activities in September 2020;

Moreover, the project will be investing in the capacity building of the teams and the preparedness for resuming the activities in schools.

The project will pay particular attention to equal access to education for all children, including Roma pupils during these challenging events for schools and educational systems.

Equally,  an emergency response for schools and communities in need of support is currently being explored. The project will communicate on further developments and decisions on its official website.
