The consultation meeting and consultation workshop on the development of the national Action Plan on combatting trafficking in human beings in Türkiye with the central and provincial personnel were held in Ankara on 22 November 2022, and in Antalya on 1-2 December 2022. The meeting and workshop brought together 66 participants, from Presidency of Migration Management, International Organisation for Migration and International centre for Migration Policy Development, and it was organised under the joint European Union and Council of Europe action on “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey”.
The events provided information on the process of the Third National Action Plan which will be developed by Presidency of Migration Management. The workshop was useful in detailing the information flow from the provincial to the central level which would feed into National Action Plan that would be prepared. During both the meeting and the workshop, fruitful discussions were carried out in terms of the way forward.
The meeting and the workshop were highly participative and received valuable input from participants on the situation on the ground. The findings of the reports were presented to the participants during the meeting, while Directorate General of Combating Irregular Migration and Deportation Procedures provided information on their area of work in terms of its relation to the identification of trafficking in human beings and to discuss issues experienced in the provinces during the workshop.
This training was organised within the framework of the action “Strengthening the human rights protection of migrants and victims of human trafficking in Turkey”, part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
