Judges and prosecutors from Republika Srpska participated in a cascade training on the protection of whistleblowers and on defamation on 12 and 13 November 2020.

The training tackled both the regulatory framework of European Union and the Council of Europe and the domestic legislation, together with both the domestic case studies and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.

The goal of the seminar was to raise the capacities of local judiciary on the standards and procedures of protection of whistleblowers, as set by the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court. The presentations, discussion and exercises took place online.

International expert Jelena Surčulija Milojević was one of the educators at the training, together with local experts – judges Admir Biščić and Amir Kapetanović. This event was organised in partnership with the Center for Judicial and Prosecutorial Training of Republika Srpska.

This training was organised within the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, and its action on “Freedom of expression and freedom of the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina (JUFREX)”.
