Albanian students visit the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights

Upon successful completion of the Moot Court competition in Albania, six law students from the Luarasi University and the New York University of Tirana participated in a study visit to the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on 26 and 27 September 2022.

The Council of Europe pays particular attention to initiating law students to human rights law and practical application of the European Convention on Human Rights (the Convention), therefore the study visit was organised in a way to allow the participants to get a better understanding of the work of European human rights institutions and encouraging them to take responsibility for respecting and promoting human rights when they return home.

The two-day study visit included presentation on the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Youth Centre, individual thematic presentations on HELP online courses and Human Rights and Sports. Law students had a unique opportunity to prepare and to participate in the Moot Court competition couched by the lawyers from the European Court of Human Rights.

This activity was organised in the framework of the action “Supporting enforcement of the judicial decisions and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgements in Albania” funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in the framework of the programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022.
