To mark the 10th anniversary of the National Mediation Chamber in Albania, a workshop focusing on the development of the mediation in Albania was organized on 30 June 2023 in Tirana in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the National Chamber of Mediation.

Mediators, lawyers, magistrates and justice institutions involved in mediation were introduced with the CEPEJ toolkit on mediation and best practices from European countries.

In their opening remarks, the deputy minister of justice Mr. Klajdi Karameta and Ms. Drita Avdyli, Head of the National Mediation Chamber emphasised the particular timing in relation to the developments in the frame of the judicial reform, that gives specific importance to the mediation supporting efficiency of courts at the same time.

The participants also had the opportunity to exchange their experiences and views on the challenges and expectations of mediation as a new developing profession in Albania.

The activity was organized in the frame of “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV)" action under the EU and Council of Europe joint initiative “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkye 2023-2026”
