An indepth assessment of the judicial system in Kosovo* has just been published. The report contains recommendations following the study visit of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice.

The recommendations include:

• assessing the needs of citizens as regularly as possible for legal aid services
• introducing policies and adopting measures aimed at increasing representation of women among judges, court presidents and prosecutors
• conduct research in comparison to other European countries to assess whether the number of lawyers in Kosovo is sufficient to deal with the volume of proceedings and to meet the needs of citizens for legal services.
