A webinar on “Good practices in referencing and quoting” took place on 23 June 2020, providing advice for around 40 graduate and postgraduate students from the University of Montenegro on how to avoid plagiarism when writing academic papers.

A Slovenian expert with vast experience in publishing provided insight and understanding on the notions of plagiarism, the distinctions between plagiarism in literature and science, and why copyright law prohibits plagiarism. He also spoke about actual cases drawn from people and circumstances in Slovenia and elsewhere and advised students how to react when facing similar challenges to those experienced. The presentation provoked interesting discussions between the speaker and the students on this controversial topic.

The event was organised within the framework of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022” and its action on “Quality education for all” in Montenegro.
