Millennium Bridge in the colours of the campaign on free legal aid for victims of domestic violence

The Capital City of Podgorica joined the campaign on the free legal aid for victims of domestic violence in Montenegro, by lightening the Millennium Bridge in the purple colour of the campaign.

The European Union and the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Association of Judges, Supreme Court of Montenegro, Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights and civil society organisations “SOS telephone for women and children victims of violence Podgorica” and “NGO Women´s Rights Centre”, launched this awareness raising campaign on 1 October. It is aimed at raising awareness among women and other victims of domestic violence of the availability of free legal mechanisms.

Victims are encouraged to #TellTheWholeStory, to use their rights, so they may receive the assistance and protection they are entitled to within the Montenegrin legal system.

The campaign is being implemented within the action "Improved procedural safeguards in judicial proceedings in Montenegro", which is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
